Artist Cuts Objects From Coins to Create Collages and Jewelry

Most of us see coins as a means of payment and nothing more. But have you ever observed them closely? If you have, you’ll realize that each of them is a small art piece, filled with intriguing designs and fine details.

Toronto-based artist Micah Adams realized that coins are much more than a piece of metal you can exchange for goods eight years ago, when he got an idea to cut out tiny maple leaves from a discontinued Canadian penny using a jeweler’s saw. After that, he decided to look for other objects hidden in coins that he could set free.

Since then, Adams has been making collages and unique jewelry out of objects that he has cut from both domestic and foreign coins. He has exhibited his artwork in galleries across Canada and he sells some of the pieces he creates on Etsy.

Check out some of his impressive works below.
