Usually, the best inspiration for creative work can be found in the things that surround you. Artist Bernie Kaminski employs this principle by recreating everyday objects using paper mache.
Kaminski’s sculpture portfolio consists of bags, clothes, food, boxes, sports equipment, and everything else you would usually find in someone’s home. The artist manages to recreate the objects to great detail but leaves small imperfections as a charming addition and a reminder for the viewer that they are viewing fake products.
In a recent chat with It’s Nice That, Kaminski revealed that he started doing paper mache almost by accident. His daughter wanted him to make her a basketball out of paper mache, and the first attempt was a resounding success.
Since then, Kaminski started to make paper mache on a regular basis “just to entertain myself.”
“I can’t really draw or paint, but when I started making paper mâché pieces, I thought they looked interesting enough to keep doing it, “he shared in a recent.
Kaminski shares his creations on Instagram and already has an admirable collection of paper mache pieces posted on social media. His works have received quite a lot of praise among internet users, who can’t wait to see what he’ll come up with next.
