]]>“My work is inspired by growing up surrounded by women (4 sisters!) and finding that the beauty of our differences always made us stronger,” she writes on her personal website. Other sources of inspiration include diversity, honest motherhood, and her walk of faith (in fact, tying in with her faith, her studio/brand is named Spoonful of Faith).
According to Holliday, her creative spirit blossomed at an early age, but having grown up she put her love of art aside, launching first a career in marketing. “I have always been creative,” she shared in an interview with Creative Lady Collective. “From a young age, I would sketch comic strips and draw people I did life with. I never took it too seriously until after I finished college with a degree in marketing.”
But returning to her original passion was only a matter of time. For Holliday, it was motherhood that reignited her interest in art and illustration. “I decided that I wasn’t really doing what I loved to do, and then after the birth of my first child, I got an insane passion to go for what I always dreamed of,” she recalls.
Like in most cases, the internet happened. Sharing her work online drew other people in, and Holliday was commissioned to do the things she loved doing best. But the actual leap of faith into freelance work happened a while later—when she was pregnant with her second child.
“From there I’ve seen the need in the market for women, especially mothers, to be encouraged in being creative,” she notes. “I’ve also seen artists struggle with marketing and ‘selling’ their work and through my past experience and passion for art—I started teaching tips and tricks to women through Mother Creative, an online community I launched”.
These days, her clients include giants like Dove, HarperCollins, and Logitech. But her biggest audience has always remained the same: other women.

]]>“Somebody said the ladies will find me a lot more attractive if I post pictures with filters. I have some doubts but what do I know, right? So here goes. Man my phones probably gonna really blow up,” he posted on Facebook.
Before long, the photos that he posted on May 9 went viral taking the Facebook world by storm with more than 39k reactions, 11k comments, and 117k shares.
The photos are just the light content we need during these stressful times. Embrey took the woman’s advice literally and posted photos of himself holding actual filters instead of filtering his photos with digital app filters. He used all types of filters including vacuum filters, air conditioning filters, coffee filters, and lawnmower filters.
For a good laugh, check out more of the photos below.

]]>Each piece begins with an observation. “I observe people in a personal way by drawing them, so I stare at my friends for a bit and sometimes exaggerate their muscles and plumpness,” she says. “I believe seeing and drawing things rounder make viewers happier.”
“I am always inspired by activities that interact with people, such as moving human bodies, which catch my attention all the time,” she added. “The movement and the curves in their arms form different shapes and lines, which are all very fascinating. I don’t really care about their face or their identity so I add no details other than identical smiley faces. Marshmallow babies allow me to interact with body shapes and figures.”
Indeed, her works are naive and playful which ensures a joyful effect. Here are some of our favorite illustrations by her.

]]>After Okoro purchased an engagement ring, he figured the best way to propose would be to do something spontaneous. So, he kept the ring on him in case the perfect opportunity arose. A month into his quest, he was sitting on the sofa and admiring “his precious” when Read walked into the room and almost caught him. This is when he came up with the perfect idea.
In the next month or so, Okoro decided to see how far he could go by flashing the ring in front of Read without her noticing, while documenting each moment. This turned into a hilarious photo album that he ended up sharing on his social media.
Okoro’s amusing story and photos quickly went viral, and it has been shared more than 60K times in less than 10 days.
If you are wondering, Okoro didn’t get caught, but he did find the perfect moment to propose. He recently promised to tell us the entire story soon, and honesty, we can’t wait.

]]>“Feminist Baby is very much for babies,” she told Parents Magazine. “It’s colorful and fun and certainly doesn’t explain all the nuances of feminism. That said, it’s one of the only books ever to try to introduce feminism to babies.”
“People don’t realize how important early reading is,” explained Brantz. “It’s in just the simple things throughout the book, like Feminist Baby saying ‘no’ to things and being proud of being smart is SO IMPORTANT for children to see.”
A two-time Emmy Award-winning illustrator and designer, Loryn has worked for clients that include The Jim Henson Company, HarperCollins, Disney-Hyperion, and Facebook. She currently writes and illustrates for BuzzFeed, pushing forward subjects like body image and feminism with a dab of humor.

]]>“I first created the comics of the little fox and furry friends on Instagram to remind and encourage myself. Little did I expect that more and more people found them uplifting and resonating,” she wrote on Bored Panda.
She draws inspiration from many sources such as books, conversations, and observations from people passing by. Readers can also share their ideas on how they would like the comics to turn out by sharing their own personal stories and issues that are close to their heart.
“I like to let my readers have a say in the conceptualising of the comics sometimes. So there are times that I will ask them what matters to them and what they would like to see. Some readers will also share their personal stories with me,” Jang said according to Mothership.
In addition to her cute illustrations, Jang also has an online shop called Story Studio where she collaborated with partners to curate a “featured” line of gifts that support communities of makers whose stories are worth sharing. “The process of designing and creating is deeply relational – it’s about learning their story, about being heard. The relationship ensures that the gifts are ethically and purposefully made,” the website reads.
