Towards the end of each year, artist David Regone teams up with internet brands Subway Creatures and WhatIsNewYork to create illustrations highlighting the best and worst things that happened in New York City during that year. Regone recently presented his illustrations for 2024, and they are as amazing as ever.
In the Subway Creatures illustration, Regone pays tribute to euthanized rescue squirrel Peanut, makes fun of NYPD autonomous security robots, and captures an array of scenes often witnessed in NYC’s subway, like street performers, people carrying pets in bags, and fare evaders.
In the WhatIsNewYork illustration, Regone shows a bustling crossroad that features NYC’s famous street vendor, a robot dog being walked on a leash, the dude with a sign, and more references than you can count.
Each illustration is packed with details that are waiting to be uncovered. Luckily, Regone made them easier to spot thanks to magnified portions of his illustrations shared on social media.
Additionally, if you would like to ensure you don’t miss a thing while getting a cool piece of art for your home, you can also order prints of Regone’s illustrations from Subway Creatures and WhatIsNewYork’s official webshops.
