Matt Stevens is a designer and illustrator who specializes in branding and helps all sorts of individuals and companies produce captivating visual solutions. But when he manages to get some free time from his many projects, Stevens works on his intriguing passion project called “Good Movies as Old Books”.
The project sees Stevens reimagine movie classics and films he likes as worn-out paperback books. His works are quite interesting as he manages to capture the theme of the movie efficiently with the use of mostly minimalistic design solutions.
According to Stevens, he got the idea for this unusual passion project after using a similar idea while working for one of his clients.
“(For) one of the pitches, we were selling a pretty modern idea but in a way that needed to look really old and worn,” he shared in a chat with Colossal. “I really enjoyed the process of putting something in a different context and thought I’d take it on as a personal project.”
So far, Stevens has given “old book” treatment to movies like James Cameroon’s Terminator, Michel Gondry’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, and many more. Continue scrolling to check out some of the below.
