Ekaterina Popova’s Paintings Capture the Coziness of Home

The place most of us feel the most comfortable is our home. That type of coziness we get is hard to describe or capture, but it is safe to say that the works of award-winning artist Ekaterina Popova do it in a great way.

Popova creates paintings in which she captures the coziness of home. Inspired by post-impressionism, fauvism, and magical realism, and using a rich color palette, Popova paints bedrooms, living rooms, and other interior scenes that depict the personal spaces of people.

Her works are full of intricate details, inviting the viewer to unpack them while making up their own story about those who inhabit these spaces.

“I am drawn in by light, color, texture, and also the untold stories a lot of spaces tell. Who lives here? What were they doing? What happened here? What feelings are present in the space? Can you smell the fresh-cut flowers or spring breeze? These are all the things I think about combined with my love of paint,” Popova shared in a recent interview with Beautiful Bizzare.

Popova’s works have been exhibited across the United States and Europe, and are currently on view at Chicago’s Very Serious Gallery. If you can’t make it to check them out in person, scroll down to see more of her paintings.
