In her own words, Burgess creates “handmade ceramic silliness.” Her ceramic figurines and vessels are everything but ordinary. They usually feature animals with expressive faces, unexpected gestures, and disproportional body parts. Each looks like it has its own personality, and they are absolutely charming.

According to Burgess, she has an “obsession for animals, usually the weirder and more obscure.” This made them a natural subject when she started doing ceramics as a hobby in 2010.

Despite being a self-taught artist, she quickly mastered the practice and found her unique style. Eventually, her creations found an audience, and she decided to start a business called “nosey mungo” to give people the opportunity to own them.

Nowadays, every new collection Burgess creates is quickly sold out, but fans of her work don’t need to worry about missing out on her pieces.           

“Being forever curious about nature will always give me new creative inspiration,” Burgess shares on her website.

]]> Graphic designer and illustrator Florent Chamiot-Poncet, also known as Wood Campers, recently presented an interesting project in which he designed playful traffic signs that serve as public art and also aim to improve traffic safety.

Chamiot-Poncet created 60 colorful designs for the project. They depict various quirky characters with eye-catching features like extraordinary mustaches, wacky hairstyles, and peculiar expressions, and they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Some of them also feature messages that let drivers know they should slow down.

For the project, Chamiot-Poncet teamed up with creatives from Ilta Studio and the French city of Rennes, where the traffic signs were installed. Chamiot-Poncet made the designs, which were then printed, cut, and plastered on the old traffic signs provided by the city. 

The traffic signs were installed in La Courrouze district, known for being a dangerous place for pedestrian due to drivers who often disregard the speed limit. With the project, Chamiot-Poncet and rest of the participants hope to “alert passersby and motorists in an offbeat manner in an area where pedestrians feel unsafe.”

It is unclear how long this installation will remain on display, but if you have a chance, make sure to check it out.

]]> A mini Australian Sheppard named Kaido recently became an internet sensation thanks to his habit of helping clear the way for emergency vehicles by matching their sirens with adorable “awoo” sounds.

Kaido and his human Matt “Matty” Fernandez frequently take bike rides across their native New York City. While riding the bike, they occasionally encounter ambulances, fire trucks, and police vehicles trying to navigate congested streets.

Once Kaido, who is usually nestled in a bike chair or a backpack on Matty’s back, hears the sirens, he immediately starts howling. Matty refers to this type of sound as “awoo,” which lets others know that they should pay attention and let the emergency vehicles pass.

Matty has been sharing the videos of Kaido’s “awoos” on TikTok, and judging by the comments, the internet users love it.

“He is putting his whole heart and soul in it. Look at his head going so far back,” one TikToker commented.

“The little paw on your shoulder, the full head tilt back for the howl, hair blowing in the wind, and stranger joining in! This video is happiness,” another added.

As it turns out, a lot of TikTok users didn’t know this and some of them are relieved that this history can be deleted due to their “embarrassing” calculations. Others decided to share it with the rest of the world.

One of them is TikTok user @jeffersonjohn14, who decided to share their realization with the rest of the world in a video that has since gone viral.

“Yall please remember to clear your CALCULATOR history every once in a while..my bf just saw mine and would have rather him gone thru my internet history,” @jeffersonjohn14 wrote in the video while also disclosing that her embarrassing calculation was “3+8??????.”

Many TikTok users were oblivious and thanked @jeffersonjohn14 for giving them a heads-up.

]]> It’s impossible to resist the call of the ocean when you live on the East Coast, and no one knows this better than Logan Rash. He’s a fossil collector behind East Coast Fossils, who specializes in hunting for shark teeth and using his platform to advocate for shark and ocean conservation.

Rash grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and his love for nature knows no bounds. He spent his childhood years fascinated by the ocean and answered the call of the sea when he was just 19 years old. This was when he started collecting prehistoric shark teeth along the East Coast, unaware that this teenage hobby would shape the rest of his life.

Rash’s collection kept growing as the years went by, and he’s now sharing his findings with 80,000 followers on his Instagram page East Coast Fossils.
