Due to their depiction as blood-hungry sea monsters in media and movies, sharks have undeservingly earned a bad rep among humans. The truth is that these sea creatures are mostly attacking when provoked and are quite calm when left alone.
In order to improve sharks’ image among humans, and spread some knowledge about them, writer Christian Talbot and illustrator Sophie Hodge decided to team up and start a series of webcomics titled The Life of Sharks.
Through these comics, the duo shares interesting and real facts about sharks in a quite entertaining and funny way. The comics are illustrated in a charming way while the sharks who star in them are witty and surprisingly relatable.
“Our ideas come from all over the place.”- the authors shared. “It could be a phrase I hear or a news story or something that’s happened to me that she can thinly veil as happening to a shark. Sophie will often send me a random situation for me to write a cartoon about.”
