]]>“A paper or a canvas or a skin, are the same, it’s just different material,” she reflected in an interview with Cortex. “I did my first tattoo on myself in high school with a needle and some random ink because I was in love with a stupid guy. Then I went to Nantes and met the best people, I was at school with Ivan he had a super scary tattoo machine, it took me a while before I tried, but once I started I followed him.”
Nowadays, she’s back to hand-poked tattooing, which doesn’t require a machine. The result is a lot more tangible – creating perfect imperfections, which is just the way she likes her art to be. With a background industrial design, Olk says she’s developed an interest in the more simple things in life, which are still able to evoke emotion. “I am very attracted to pop art, mid XXth century graphics and the Renaissance period,” she says. “It’s a long and slow journey, I am still researching and trying new techniques.”

]]>Maslov spent a good portion of her career as a freelance illustrator, doing a healthy amount of commissioned tattoo designs. This inspired her to transition to tattooing, and it ended up being a great decision.
She is now working in Melbourne’s Heretic Tattoo Studio, where clients line up just to have a piece of her art on their skin.

]]>Karabudak, who splits her residence between Brooklyn and Los Angeles, previously worked as an art teacher and street artist before deciding to give tattooing a chance. It turned out that she is natural at it, and she has been working as a tattoo artist for the past nine years.
While she does all sorts of tattoos, Karabudak became known for her circled tattoos. In small circles, she is able to capture an impressive number of details, creating incredibly deep and unique tattoo art. Besides landscapes and nature scenes, this talented artist also does recreations of classical paintings and popular illustrations.
