]]>Pratma creates mind-bending landscapes that defy the laws of physics. In his works, a lush green forest expands vertically, the sea is split in the middle, and urban architecture is distorted in “wavy” shapes. The attention to details is remarkable and if we didn’t know better, we would think that these landscapes really exist somewhere.
While editing detailed and complex works requires a lot of work, this isn’t the hardest part of the process for Pratma. Instead, it is finding the right photos for his idea. Once he manages to do that, the rest of the process is quite easy for him.
According to Pratma, he started creating his surreal landscapes in 2015, with Inception being his primary inspiration. The movie features a number of scenes in which real-world architecture and physics get twisted. The interesting thing is that Pratma’s own works have inspired others as well. One mobile app developer actually made an app that creates surreal images in a similar style after seeing landscapes made by Pratma.

]]>Influenced by French Masters like Pierre Bonnard, Georges Braque, and Henri Matisse, McAllister creates captivating landscape and still life paintings that are full of vibrant colors.
For most of his works, the Slidell, Louisiana-born artist relies on a palette that features warm hues of red, orange, purple, and pink. This makes his works burst from the canvas, drawing in the viewers and offering them an opportunity to get lost in natural scenes across various seasons and unpack them at their own pace.
“Most of the time, nature exists in a palette of greens, browns, and whites. However, when bursts of exaggerated color erupt, the experience becomes especially pronounced. It fills me with a sense of exuberance, excitement, and anticipation. I want to capture these same qualities in my paintings,” McAllister explained in a recent interview with designboom.
McAllister exhibited his works across the United States as well as in the UK, Germany, and Japan among other countries. His works are part of the collection of Rubell Museum in Miami, Florida, and Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, California.
