Petra hails from Helsinki, Finland, and she has gone a long way since the start of her artistic journey. Before giving makeup art a shot, she used to run a successful DeviantArt page, where she shared her tattoo-inspired art with the world.

She eventually decided to switch the gears and use her face as a canvas. This proved to be the right calling for the young makeup enthusiast, who describes herself as an “artist in progress” because she had to learn a lot on her own since the start of her makeup journey.

We’ve seen Petra experiment with many different styles over the years, but one common theme eventually emerged. Her makeup looks are mostly inspired by nature and usually feature floral elements, but she’s no stranger to paying homage to birds, frogs, butterflies, and other animals through her makeup art.

She uses eyeshadow palettes, glitter, rhinestones, and everything in between to bring natural scenes to her face, and usually lists all the products she used to help other makeup lovers recreate her looks.

“I thrive on challenge — it’s more interesting to me,” she admitted in an interview with Allure. “Some people like consistency and reliability, but I’m just the opposite… You can be an amazing makeup artist, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re going to be great at runway,” she explained. “For me, working in TV is not right. Doing bridal is not right. I actually need that stress!”

Raised in Southern California, Lottie was drawn to anything and everything creative from a very young age. Upon completing her education in graphic design, she moved to London, England and quickly found work on a number of cutting edge projects. Breaking away from design a few years later, she has since moved into what she considers her true calling.

Her artistry took her to fashion shows in New York, Milan, London, Miami, and Los Angeles and she has worked with brands as huge as Urban Decay, Marc Jacobs Beauty, and Hermes. Among her celebrity clients are icons like Drew Barrymore, Karen O, Rihanna, and Emilia Clarke.

“I’ve always had an obsession with eyes, I just think they are beautiful,” said Domonkos in an interview with Office. “Since I was really young I always used to draw eyes all over my exercise books in school during my classes. Another reason is that my makeup looks are really ‘messy’ and all over the place so I want there still to be some kind of order.”

Inspired by artists David Bowie, Tilda Swinton, and Grimes, her creative process is as “messy” as the makeup looks themselves. “It’s always different,” she explained. “Sometimes I already know what colors I want to use but I have no idea what shape to create, and sometimes it’s the other way round. I usually just sit down in front of my mirror, pick up a brush, and do whatever feels right at the moment.”

The Paris-born, Brooklyn-based beauty guru came to New-York at the age of 19, with the goal of making it big in the fashion industry. And boy did she succeed. Since studying art and fashion, and nailing a job at Estée Lauder she turned her focus to YouTube and Instagram, passing on her knowledge to others.

“I woke up one morning and I always scroll down Instagram when I wake up after my meditations, and I was seeing all these tutorials and I thought, damn, I don’t relate to any of them,” she recalled in an interview with the Pardon My French podcast. “I am sure there are other women like me who don’t relate to all the contouring and all the makeup. It’s so pretty seeing a woman do her makeup, maybe there is something poetic about it.”

“In France we learn how to take care of what we have, what Mother Nature gave us,” she explains. “We don’t do blow dryers or crazy hair, but we’ll do an incredible conditioner and hair masks. We won’t do tons of treatments and filler but we will do a wonderful facial every week and eat healthy.”
