Yinfan Huang is a maker of sorts. Working as a freelance illustrator, she’s known for her whimsical art for children’s books, magazines, brands, and institutions around the world. But aside from illustrating, she also very much enjoys making hand-crafted ceramic homewares, accessories, and paper goods, which she sells on her online store, In Fun Handmade.
“Art plays a crucial part in my life, and now it’s hard to separate it from my life and work,” relayed Huang in an interview with Ballpit Magazine. “Art makes me a more sensitive and empathetic person, and making art makes me feel I have a purpose.”
But though her life is intricately connected with arts and crafts, she admits to being the only artist in her family. Born and raised in South China, Huang decided to move to the US to study illustration when she was only 22. Currently based in NYC, her creative journey is documented in a comics she shares online.
“I hope my art can make people smile, laugh, feel connected, and understood,” she says. “Art is such a powerful thing and I hope to use it to touch people and change the world, even just a little.” It might just so… Take a look for yourself.
