This Artist Paints Women with Their Eyes Closed and There’s A Reason Behind It

San Diego-based artist Catalina Bellizzi-Itiola, aka Cataphant, wanted to make a series of paintings where the eyes don’t have a significant part in her masterpieces.

“I wanted to paint women having spiritual experiences, completely unbothered by outside forces,” the half-Colombian, half-Argentinian artist explained. “So, I stopped painting them with their eyes open. I haven’t painted a human eye since 2016.”

Her unique portraits of women illustrate how we are deeply connected with our souls when we try to focus more on our inner self.
