When it comes to her art, Olimpia Zagnoli takes a rather humble approach. \u201cUnfortunately, what I do is create images and images don\u2019t literally feed anyone,” she once remarked in an interview with The Great Discontent, “but perhaps they could feed someone\u2019s eyes, which is a pretty big responsibility for a bunch of lines and colors.” \n\n\n\n

Keeping that goal in mind, her art is very much the meaning of eye-popping. Her graphic illustrations rely on bold contrasts and dramatic color palettes, attracting clients like Fendi, the Guggenheim Museum, and even the New York subway system. “I always try to put my heart into my work and preserve my vision without compromising it,\u201d says Zagnoli. \n\n\n\n

The series \u201cWindows\u201d created for the launch of the first @uniqlo store in Italy just won a gold medal\ud83e\udd47from The Society of Illustrators of New York in the Surface\/Product Design category. Thanks to @soi128 and the jury for the award and @uniqlo_it and @dude_frames for asking me to be part of this project. Here\u2019s a look inside the store in Milan and some early sketches.
