It doesn’t take much to create amazing art if you’re creative and resourceful enough, and Kuronushi is a case in point. This Japanese artist found viral fame thanks to his epic celebrity portraits, which see him using nothing but cardboard and shadows to create something truly extraordinary.

Kuronushi decided to start experimenting with “shadow art” after noticing how impressive the shadow of his daughter looked when projected on a wall. The 23-year-old artists started looking for ways to replicate that magic and decided to use cardboard as a canvas.

His creative process now involves cutting hundreds of pieces of cardboard and later gluing them together to craft his amazing dioramas. They look pretty ordinary at first, but the real magic happens when he rotates them to reveal their true nature, positioning them at the perfect angle to let them cast shadows that will blow your mind.
